About Us

Hawkes Bay couple Dave & Annie Evans live on a small organic farmlet just a few minutes from the sea in the coastal foothills above Te Awanga, near Cape Kidnappers. Dave manages the farm as well as working as a craftsman/artisan whereas Annie works full-time as a teacher.  Together they enjoy a shared passion which is their business ‘Alpacadream’

“We have always been land and animal people", they say. “We believe strongly in the principles of sustainability and, having raised four children, we experienced first-hand the benefits of organics and using natural products whenever possible.  Some years ago we fell in love with alpacas and soon found them to be a grazing animal that ideally suits our way of life.  In addition we saw the potential to create a unique product with their gorgeous fleece.  This rare and luxuriant fibre is valued for its superior thermostatic and non-allergenic qualities and we decided to investigate its use as an inner filling for duvets.

After much thought, research and development, we now make duvet / quilts using either pure alpaca, or a combination of alpaca and NZ Merino wool (Alperino) in both winter and summer weights. Alpaca has proven to be a great alternative to duck and goose down, being lighter and having the capacity to keep you warmer and dryer. Feedback from customers has been extremely positive.

The most recent addition to our line of products has been the Alpaca and Alperino Pillows, for children and now for adults too!

We always welcome your ideas and feedback and will try our best to meet the needs of your child - and you!

An Authentic Local Cottage Industry - it all happens here in Hawkes, Bay NZ

Our happy alpacas graze in grassy fields with many trees for shade and shelter, free from all harmful chemicals and sprays. The alpaca wool inners are carded into batts at a local mill ready to be used as filling for the  duvet/quilts and pillows which are then crafted in our workshop, at home on the farm.
