About Us
Hawkes Bay couple Dave & Annie Evans live on a small organic farmlet just a few minutes from the sea in the coastal foothills above Te Awanga, near Cape Kidnappers. Dave manages the farm as well as working as a craftsman/artisan whereas Annie works full-time as a teacher. Together they enjoy a shared passion which is their business ‘Alpacadream’
“We have always been land and animal people", they say. “We believe strongly in the principles of sustainability and, having raised four children, we experienced first-hand the benefits of organics and using natural products whenever possible. Some years ago we fell in love with alpacas and soon found them to be a grazing animal that ideally suits our way of life. In addition we could see a huge potential to create a unique product with their amazing fleece. This rare and luxuriant fibre is valued for its superior thermostatic and non-allergenic qualities and we felt it would be ideal for children’s bedding.
After much thought, research and development, we created our first product the Dreamy de Luxe. This cot duvet quilt is manufactured from 100% natural materials including of course our alpaca fleece, and made especially for babies and children. Although still quite new to the market, already the feedback we are receiving is extremely positive and encouraging. “The ‘Dreamy’ is here to stay!”
A more recent development in Alpacadream has been the production of Dream Boat Beds - a toddler transition bed that is beautifully crafted in a variety of styles and woods. This sideline home industry perfectly complements the running of the alpaca business and all that goes with this - and has enabled Dave to focus all his energy here at home, in his workshop or on the farm.
'Dream Creations', yet another exciting development, has also delivered its first product to a very happy customer - Watch this space!!
An Authentic Local Cottage Industry - it all happens here in Hawkes, Bay NZ
